queue, q u e u e, queue

We queue up for everything - we queue at food centres, we queue to collect cinema tickets, we queue to enter car parks ... we queue overnight for the coveted condo ... we queue overnight for that coveted place in the school we want!

Queue overnight for a place in a primary school? In the rain?

Well, that's what happened at the Tanjong Katong Primary School! They set up seats and tents, to queue up for what they thought were 10 school places. But it turned out there was only one place. Still, the rest in the line stayed in line, to keep the ones in front company! Camaraderie indeed! And then the first two in the line gave up their places to the third parent, as they were sending their children to international schools. (Wonder why they queued in the first place then? =_= )

And these were foreigners as they were applying after the locals have taken their turns. Maybe they have caught our habit of queuing, and of kiasu-ism!
The positive side to this? The strong emphasis parents place on education, and their care and concern for their children. :)
