Taipei Metro, Night Markets and hair salons

The Taipei metro or jie yun ( 捷运 ) or public transit system. View from our service apartment - Chinatrust Executive Suite at Peitou, opposite the 北投 metro station.

Taipei, like other cities, is home to names like MacDonald's, KFC, Watsons. Even Mister Donut and NY Bagels were seen in the shopping malls.
It has its night markets, like Shi Lin ( 士林 ) night market (next to the 剑潭 metro station), where there is a food centre surrounded by shops and streets of night market merchandise. On a Sat night, it was packed like sardines. Wonder how anyone could shop like that!

Then there's a place where they sell wholesale stuff - some nice jackets at a good price.

And there's Ximending - a few streets of shops and open-air shopping, rather "hip" fashion shops. A place full of the young on a Sat afternoon.

A small pastry shop Vigor ( 维格 ) sells delicious pineapple cakes.

We also saw a few hair salons with this name ;)

乱剪。 Wonder what's the price like? More importantly, the outcome? Any takers? ;)
